(ECNS) -- The Fujian Coast Guard Bureau will carry out regular patrols in the waters between Xiamen and Kinmen, said Gan Yu, a spokesperson for the bureau on Sunday.
The decision of the Fujian bureau came after a local fishing boat was forcefully driven away by Taiwan authorities in the waters near Kinmen. All four people on board fell into the sea, resulting in the drowning of two of them.
Xiamen is located in South China's Fujian Province and Kinmen is an outlying island located adjacent to Xiamen.
Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office and the State Council said the incident took place Wednesday sparked outage on the mainland, severely hurt the feelings on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and undermine cross-Straits exchange.
The regular patrol mission is conductive to reinforce fisheries regulation and protect fishermen's lives and property, said Gan.
