At least three people were shot and five were in custody Wednesday after gunfire erupted in a Philadelphia park where an Eid al-Fitr celebration marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan was taking place.
The city of an estimated 1.5 million people is located in the eastern U.S. state of Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said two groups of people exchanged gunfire. He said about 30 shots were fired in the park where approximately 1,000 people were celebrating.
